What is Regenerative Grazing?
Sol Fed Ranch dog food is made with regeneratively raised raw beef. The word regenerative has received a lot of buzz over the last several years so we want to be clear about what it means to us.
Regenerative ranches use livestock to mimic the activity of wild herbivores such as elk and bison. These animals moved together in large herds and grazed across vast landscapes. They were constantly moving and as they grazed the grass in one area, they would fertilize the land and move on, allowing the plants to regrow and recover before returning in subsequent years. This cycle of growth, grazing, and rest built healthy soils and allowed for the flourishing of wild flowers, insects, birds, and other wildlife that would use these lands when the herd moved on.
Regenerative grazing mimics this process and restores the symbiotic relationship between herbivores and the land. Graziers keep their herd as one group often using temporary electric wire, and move them to fresh forage often, typically every 1-4 days and sometimes multiple times a day! Then they let that grazed land rest, take in all the nutrients, and recover, building deeper and healthier soils. In this way ranchers balance the health of the livestock, soil, ecosystem and the people that work with them.
This practices is at the core of regenerative grazing. Sol Fed Ranch was founded to highlight these practices and support producers that use them. Our beef is not only 100% grass fed, but also grazed using practices that allow animals to express their natural behavior by grazing together on diverse forage. Our raw beef dog food recipe is organ forward and include canine super foods without any fillers. Buying Sol Fed Ranch dog food is supporting regenerative futures.
